Kimberly-Horne, an engineering firm in West Palm Beach, contracted Carpenter Electric, Inc. for the installation of a 1200 amp disconnect and manual transfer switch. The scheduling presented as a challenge because we had to plan the install perfectly due to the fact that we had a shutdown by FPL Friday afternoon and had to have the building up and running by Monday at 8 am. The work that we did included locating the direction of the 4-4” conduits feeding the building, removing the necessary asphalt, removing the 1200 amp conductors, intercepting the 4” conduits rerouting to the new 1200 manual transfer switch, providing new conduit from the FPL transformer to the new 1200 amp disconnect to the MTS and re-pulling the existing 1200 amp conductors back into the building. We ended up providing temporary power to maintain Kimberly Horne’s international main computer system, and lighting to keep the crews working through the night.
